School of Nursing Living Learning Community (LLC)

 
The FAMU School of Nursing Living Learning Community (LLC) is designed to strengthen students’ academic success during their first year of college, while providing a sense of community to aid in their transition. The school of nursing LLC participants learn skills necessary to build a solid foundation while on their journey towards becoming a competent and compassionate nurse. This program will provide excellence with caring as students begin the pursuit of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree.

Requirements

First year (freshman) students who have an interest in pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • Freshmen students with a minimum high school GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • 500 on the SAT Math or 21 on the ACT Math are encouraged to apply. 
  • **(Students with dual enrollment credits or any college credits that are transferring must have a college GPA of 3.0 in addition to the high school GPA requirements above).      

How to Apply:
  • Fill out a FAMU Housing application
    • Make sure to click the School of Nursing LLC link.
    • Complete the LLC Form.
    • Please note: You can only be a part of one LLC
  • Submit an essay that succinctly addresses each of the following questions & statement (max: one-page, min: 500 words):
    • Why you are interested in a pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing, and your plans once you earn your nursing degree.
    • What steps are you willing to take as a college student to ensure that you reach your career goals?
    • Why are you interested in participating in the School of Nursing LLC?
    • The importance of science, technology, and math in nursing.
