Department Overview:


The Department of Campus Recreation offers an array of programs and services that foster wellness and positive socialization for the University Community. The department's mission is to meet the needs of a diverse student population by providing a comprehensive and innovative program of recreational, leisure and fitness activities. The department is comprised of three components: Intramural Sports, Fitness and Aerobics and Outdoor Adventures.

The Department of Campus Recreation is housed in a $12 million state-of-the-art facility on the corner of Wahnish Way and Osceola Street. The Hansel E. Tookes, Sr. Student Recreation Center is 60,000 sq.ft. in total and includes a two story 16,500 sq. ft. weight training & cardio workout area, a 3,400 sq. ft. exercise/aerobics studio, a 700 square foot educational classroom, 36 ft. indoor rock climbing wall, 2 indoor basketball/multi-purpose courts, 2 racquetball courts, and a wellness suite.

Campus Recreation is also proud to offer outstanding outdoor sports facilities, which include: 2 sand volleyball courts, 3 basketball courts, 2 synthetic turf flag football fields, field house, pavilion and lighted walking/jogging trails.

The Department further engages to adopt and exhibit an orientation of making exemplary service and attention to the needs of the University paramount in every facet of its administration.
