Cancellation Policy

Please read the policy below before completing the Cancellation Form below. Cancellation Fees may apply.

Notwithstanding anything contained herein, and even when Student's cancellation is permitted under the terms of this Agreement, this Agreement may not be cancelled without prior written approval of the University. Such approval will be in accordance with, and subject to, the terms and conditions of this Agreement. Students whose Agreement has been cancelled will be required to vacate the residence hall within five (5) days from notification unless otherwise indicated.

  1. Cancellation by University: The University may, in accordance with applicable rules of the University and the Board ofTrustees, initiate reassignment or cancel the Agreement with any and all applicable charges if deemed necessary in the best interest of order, health, discipline, safety, security, disaster, governmental orders, failure to make required payments according to Payment Schedule, or compliance with the University's immunization policy.
a. The University may also cancel the Agreement for any student whose enrollment status changes (including but not limited to a
voluntary withdrawal, dismissal or change in status as a student) over the term of the Agreement.

b. A student's accepted Agreement may be cancelled by the University due to the maximum utilization of facilities at which time any
fees paid will be refunded in accordance with University rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

c. Cancellation Due to Conduct Action:
Students who are removed from Housing and/or suspended or expelled from the University
as a result of the student conduct process remain responsible for the full fees of the Housing Agreement and the student's account
will be adjusted accordingly.

e. No Show Cancellation:
Students who have not properly occupied their space by 12:00 p.m. on the first day of classes and have not
notified the Department of their late arrival may be declared "no show" and be reassigned based on availability of bed space. If the
student is found not to be enrolled, the student shall be charged a daily prorated rate and will be required to vacate the residence
hall within five (5) days from notification.

2. Cancellation by Student: Students wishing to cancel their Housing Agreement must submit a written request using the Cancellation Form at the following link: https://bit.ly/2UPN3fb. The cancellation deadlines are listed below and apply regardless of the date on which this Agreement is received/accepted by the University. Requests for cancellation over the phone and/or requests without the required Cancellation Form will not be accepted. The University may, in its sole discretion, deny the student's cancellation
request. Cancellation of the Agreement may be subject to cancellation fees as set forth below and is subject to other conditions contained herein.

a. Students who are not enrolled or will not be attending classes at FAMU and submit a written cancellation request on or before July 31, 2021, will be assessed a $300 Cancellation Fee.

b. Students who are not enrolled or will not be attending classes at FAMU and submit a written cancellation request after August 1, 2021 will be assessed a $500 Cancellation Fee.

c. Cancellations requested in writing for the Fall 2021/Spring 2022 semesters, received after the published University Fee payment deadline for Fall 2021, for reasons listed below, may be approved. However, students shall be responsible for prorated rent
through the date the key is returned and checkout procedures are completed plus a $500 Cancellation Fee, except as noted in the section below.

d. Permitted reasons for Agreement cancellation with prorated rent (as applicable) and designated Cancellation Fee:

Students who are not enrolled in classes or will not be attending classes for the Fall semester.
Students who withdraw from the University.
Students who present evidence of marriage.
Students who are enrolled in an internship program outside of Leon County.
Students who are released from the Agreement by the University Housing Director or designee.

e. Permitted reasons for Agreement cancellation with prorated rent (as applicable) and no Cancellation Fee:

Students who are graduating in the Fall semester (December Graduates).
One-term international students.
FAMU students participating in an exchange program.
Students who are denied admission to the University.
Students called to active duty/training (must provide military orders).
Students who are academically suspended from the University.
Students who medically withdraw from the University (must provide approved withdrawal by University official).

3. If the Student's Agreement Begins Summer 2021:

a. The Agreement cancellation deadline for Summer Sessions A and C is April 15, 2021. The cancellation deadline for Summer B is April 30, 2021. Cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to University Housing Main Office. Cancellation deadlines listed apply regardless of the date on which the Agreement is received/accepted by FAMU. A Request for Cancellation received after these respective deadlines, should the request be approved, are assessed a Cancellation Fee as noted in the table below.

b. Permitted Reasons for Agreement cancellation with prorated rent (as applicable) and cancellation fee:

Students who are not enrolled in at least one Summer term class or who will not be attending classes at FAMU.
Students who withdraw from the University.
Students who present evidence of marriage.
Students who are denied admission to the University.
Students who are enrolled in an internship outside of Leon County.
Students who are released from the Agreement by the University Housing Director or designee.

c. Permitted Reasons for Agreement cancellation with prorated rent (as applicable) and no cancellation fee:
