Department of Campus Safety & Security

Uniform Patrol Section

The Uniform Patrol Section is the largest portion of the Florida A&M University Department of Campus Safety & Security (FAMU DCSS). This section comprises the Patrol Unit, Traffic, School Resource Officer, Field Training, Fleet Operation, and all other policing functions.

Police Officers assigned to the Uniform Patrol Section are the backbone of the department. They are the first responders to a call for police service. Our officers currently serve a population of over 15,000, consisting of students, faculty, staff, and visitors to the Florida A&M University Campus. That population can easily triple on any given home football game weekend or special event. These officers are committed to preventing and reducing crime, protecting and educating our community, and aiding those in need.

Each officer working in the Uniform Patrol Section has been assigned to one of the four shifts. Each shift is led by a designated Corporal or Officer in Charge (OIC). Corporals and OICs report to the Uniform Patrol Sergeant and ultimately to the Assistant Director, Safety & Security/ Lieutenant in charge of the Operations Division. Shift hours are as follows: Day Shift: 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., Night Shift: 6:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
